Your AI Agent Can Share a Live Demo Without the Vercel Detour
Dave uses here.now to share a web presentation, a live button demo and an open-source cursor effect. He distinguishes quick, low-risk demos from production deployment and security review.

Field note
Dave starts with the problem of letting someone outside his laptop try a small prototype. He shows an agent creating a brand-aware presentation, building a banana-button demo and making a Dragon Cursor Effect repository testable from a shareable link.
What this covers
- Turning a short brief into a web presentation.
- Making an open-source project available for someone else to try.
- Access controls, password protection and connecting an agent.
The practical use case is quick mock-ups, presentations and low-risk demos. Sensitive work still needs its own security checks; this is not a replacement for production deployment.

This is a field note too good not to share. If you've ever developed some app, some webpage, some little demo or sample or something, and you wanted to share that with someone who's not on your computer, they're not in your ChatGPT, or your Claude Code, or your Hermes, or your Curse, or whichever agent you're using, and you're like, "How can I just quickly show this to them?
I don't wanna have to go through, like, pushing it to a repo, and setting it up, and getting it on Vercel, and doing all those kinds of things." Like, I don't wanna have to go through how I can build a better website, Dave. If I wanted a beautiful, immersive, ongoing, ever-living website, maybe I would do that, but that's not what I want.
I just wanna quickly share a demo with them. How do I do that?
Well, I'll bury the lead a little bit. Interestingly enough, I did this on the webinar the other day. So when I did this webinar, the How to Build a Better Website webinar, I realized I needed some slideware. If you're gonna do a presentation, you need a few slides, bit of an overview, let people know what's going on.
And I was like, "Ah, I've just canceled my Gamma subscription 'cause I'm not using it enough, and I'm-- haven't been super happy with the outputs from Gamma lately. What, what can I do?" And I'm-- and this is, like, less than an hour from starting this webinar, this live stream, building this website. And so I was like, "Oh, what can I do?
What can I do? What can I do? Grok Bot. Grok Bot knows my brand." And so I went to my Grok Bot and said... This is literally, this is the conversation, screenshot. "Can you make me a few 16 by 9 slides as a site on here.now that outline the simple architecture of agent GitHub host for sale I'm demoing? Also, one that shows a super simple DNS," blah, blah, blah.
And it goes, "Building that, building that, building that. Here it is on this URL, permanent on your here.now account." Slide title this. And I was like, "Oh, that's pretty good. Actually, we need the cover slide to be the event thumbnail." And that is how I got this. Two prompts gave me an on-brand custom website presentation Oh, my goodness.
Now, what is this here.now thing? That is the platform that my agents discovered for me. I was actually working on something else, and I built a little tool and said I need to, well, like, Groq put it on its own computer 'cause Groq has its own little cloud computer in the cloud, and it put it on there, and I said, "No, that's no good.
I... Like, I'm not logging into your computer and going into your virtual browser in your virtual desktop. I need this somewhere." And it goes, "Oh, cool. Here is this here.now URL, and you've got 24 hours to claim it or it will vanish. Uh, click on this other link to go create an account and claim your site." I was like, "What is that?"
And so when you claim your site, you get this interface. You get this dashboard. You can see the sites it's built. You can determine the access level, so you can go and actually put a password on it or specify people have to come in with a domain or it's private, it's only for you. So you can set privacy restrictions on these things that it lets you host for free.
The, the limits are super generous. Super generous. Uh, and so this is definitely something to look at. Now, if you're dealing in regulated environments, of course, check your security parameters, check their things. But for those quick mock-up demos, like a quick client presentation or something like that, works pretty, pretty well.
But let's do a live demo because I do like a good live demo, and let's bring up my Groq bot. Now I've created a new demo bot here, my Demo Monkey bot. Uh, "Hey, Dave. Demo Monkey reporting for duty. Ready to build something?" Uh, do I want a one-page landing, a tiny app or tool, a surprise me, I've got a specific idea?
Let's do surprise me 'cause that could be really surprising. I want to know what it's gonna build. Um, it's just gonna build something that, uh, I have not scripted because I love a live demo, the jeopardy of it all. And yes, I'm pre-recording this, but I also don't make a habit of going in and doing a lot of post-editing on these recordings.
I like to just give it to you real, authentic. As you can tell, I've got no auto cue. I'm not reading off a script. This is just like my live webinar. I like to just get in there and get things done. All right. "Surprise mode on. Spinning up a tiny demo site with monkey energy, then pushing it to here.now." Ooh.
This is great. Building banana button. A big clickable banana that rains confetti and spits demo online. Its credentials are ready, so this should land as a permanent hit on our site. Back in a minute with a live link. If I bring up my sites and you can see that little koala picture there, that is a first one that it found for me.
If I just refresh this, is it gonna show me my monkey site yet? Now what does Grokbot say? Grokbot, it's still confirming
Do, do, do, do. Here it is. Banana button demo monkey. So Grok Bot, uh, has now come through and confirmed that banana button is live on this link, which if you want to go and type that in, I will leave it there because I don't care if you come and press my banana button. Uh, but let's jump back over to Chrome, and I'll click on my banana button.
Thorny eagle
Peel first, deploy second. Priority bananas. One click closer to production. Also fruit. And so it's just created this idle banana button smasher out of nowhere because he's my demo monkey. That's, that's a thing. That's a thing that it's done now. I have a banana-smashing button. That's not particularly useful, though.
What is potentially more useful is when you have a specific little tool you want, like my little koala drawing you saw there, but also maybe you are looking at something like this. You're out there in the wide world of open source, and you see a GitHub repo. And in this instance, I found one called Dragon Cursor Effect, which apparently lets you drag a dragon around a webpage maybe.
So I'm going to grab the URL for this GitHub, and I'm going to go over to my GroqBot, and I'm gonna say, uh, "Can you put this repo on my Here.now as well so I can test it as a demo?"
All right, so I've given a repo, someone else's code. Can I do that? Spoilers. Yes, I can. So now it's gonna go and grab that repo. So I don't have to think about, again, hosting infrastructure. I don't have to worry about trying to clone the repo onto my own machine and load up a demo server and use my own local resources.
Um, I can spin this up very quickly as I'm doing live. If I, if I didn't think it was quick, I wouldn't be doing it live. And there is no jump cuts here. As you can see, as I talk and switch cameras, it's all live transitions and motion. There's no nothing, nothing up my sleeve. This is how it is. Uh, so let's...
GroqBot is still just having a little think there. Bring up the GroqBot window. Plain HTML, CSS, JS. Dragon that follows the cursor. Downloading now. Pushing it to Here Now or drop the direct live link. There it is. If I click straight on that live link... No, that opens in the wrong browser that y'all I'm not sharing with you guys.
So let's go back to my here.now page that, uh, this one. And now I can see dragon cursor effect. Click on that, and now I can test the dragon cursor effect. That's way more interesting than when I went to the repo, and this repo... Some repos, they have it hosted on a website, and you'll see a website on the right here where you can go, and they're running it, and you can test it, and they're, maybe they're doing their own hosting.
For this particular one, there was no way. No way. I would've had to literally go through and run this and open the page on my own desktop and hard drive. But now, if I was checking this out and thinking, "Oh, is that gonna be good for my project?" Now, yes, it is. That's super cool, and I can send that URL to anyone, and they can come on here, and they can play with my cursor dragon.
And of course, now it's my code. I could get Groq to do some other things with it if I wanted to. But this is a field note, and we're keeping it short. We're keeping it under 10 minutes. That is here.now. Isn't that amazing? Now, if you have a web project or a page or anything, you wanna spin up a presentation, if your agent knows your business context and can create presentations for you, you can spit it up to here.now.
When you deploy to here.now, you can even say, "Hey, create the password 'dragon' on that site." I can probably even... I can do it manually. Let's see if GroqBot can quickly do that for us and say, "Put the password 'dragon' on that site." As good security as it is, as it is to put passwords in your feed. But again, this is a very low risk, low security thing.
Um, I-- if you wanna be more secure, don't put it in your agent feed. Go and do it through the here.now dashboard. Um, but there we go. Password is on. So when I come back to the browser, one-man show, there's a lot of different browsers and things going on here, and refresh this. Now it wants a password. Dragon.
Should've made it Trogdor. And there we go. And now all my password things wanna save the dragon password. Beautiful. So anyway, that is the field note for this week, here.now. Now, if you just tell your agent to use it, it can find out and push it and do that whole temporary link thing. Or once you've logged in, once you've gone there and you have claimed your first site, one of the options you've got here is Connect Agent.
If you click on that, it gives you a prompt, and that will then get your agent to log in. It'll probably prompt you to authenticate the agent in, but that's how I can now have my agent go in and not just deploy things, but also then set passwords and control them, and so on. So I highly recommend that as a bit of a hack for your agent building things if you need to share something.
I'm sure there's other platforms out there, but this one is super convenient, works super well. I'm really happy with it, and it was just one of those field note hacks I had to share. So if you like this hack, drop a comment. I will share the URLs to the dragon cursor and the banana button in the comments, so make sure you get in there, smash the like button, smash the banana button, play with the dragon, and of course, like and subscribe.
Hit the bell icon so you're notified when we go live on Wednesdays, when I sub- when I push up new field notes, or when I do other special events like the webinar masterclass, which you can still check out. That is now up at sitesbyagents.com, which is a site by agents that teaches you how to make your own sites by agents.
It's all very meta and very fun. So get on that, and we'll see you next time.
